The first Bible in Ralte dialect, The New Testament section, was released here at the MBSE Conference Hall in Chaltlang by Synod Moderator Rev Thangzauva.
Ralte is spoken by about 24,800 in Myanmar but in India only about 900 people who lived mostly in Mizoram’s Aizawl, Lunglei and Chimtuipui areas and Manipur’s Tuithaphai valley use it. The total population of Raltes across the world is estimated to be 25,700.
Ralte dialect is one of the endangered laanguages spoken by few people in Mizoram.
“There are many Raltes who don’t know they have their own language. It is for this reason and also for the preservation of our language that a New Testament has been tranlated into Ralte,” said Ralte Study Forum.
Printed at Swapna Press in Kolkata , the first Bible in Ralte language will be sold at Rs 150.
Copies of the Bible are avaible at the Synod Book Store and other centres. Copies of the book are also available in Tuithaphai (Churachandpur District) of Manipur.
