IMPHAL, Nov 18: The Inner Line Permit Demand Committee Kangleipak today observed the "Permit System Deprivation Day` at Manipur Press Club.

The observance was graced by Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, president UCM. Sapamacha Jadumani, president FRIENDS, Birjit Ngangomba, theatre director, R.V. Minthing, former minister and H.Kulla, advisor FRIENDS as chief guest, president and guest of honours respectively.

Addressing the function, Yumnamcha Dilipkumar highlighted the importance of reviving the Inner Line Permit system in a state like Manipur where non-local people (migrants) have engulfed most parts of the state leaving the indigenous people in a pitiable condition.

He also appealed to indigenous people of the state to strive for upliftment and welfare against all odds.

Sapamacha Jadumani in his speech said the ongoing railway line project in the state is a good development but it can be disastrous for the state if the Inner Line Permit system is not implemented before the project is completed for Manipur will be flooded with migrants thereby reducing the local people into minority in their own land.

R.K. Rajendra, member, MHRC, who was special invitee at the function disclosed that Manipur is a land of contractors and the present government itself is a gang of contractors but without proper education. He further said that the issue of ILP system is result of short sightness of our political leaders who had no vision for future of Manipur.
