IMPHAL, Dec 2 : To promote cultural relation among the people, a 15-member cultural troupe from Myanmar arrived here today. The Myanmarese cultural troupe would be presenting a cultural show at JN Manipur Dance Academy here tomorrow. After their performance at Hornbill Festival in Kohima yesterday, the Myanmarese cultural troupe arrived here today as part of its tour of the North East States to promote cultural relationship among the people. The tour is being sponsored by the Ministry of DONER, Government of India.
The State Government has made necessary arrangements for the cultural show of the visiting Myanmarese troupe. Chief Secretary DS Poonia will inaugurate the programme.
Interacting with The Sangai Express, Head of Student Affairs, Department of National University of Art and Culture, Myanmar Than Aung Kyi, who is leading the Myan-marese cultural troupe, said that it is a great honour for them to get the opportunity of presenting a cultural show at Imphal.
The visiting troupe will present an hour long cultural show of Myanmarese dances and songs, he informed, adding that the Myanmarese artistes in the troupe have come from different parts of the country like Mandalay, Yangon, Neypyiaw.
Than Aung Kyi further disclosed that they relish the traditional Manipuri dishes.
Ahead of the Myan-marese cultural show tomorrow, Manipuri dances like Maibi Jagoi, Kabui dance and Basanta Ras would be showcased.
Commissioner of Art and Culture P Bharat has informed that after the tour of the Myanmarese cultural troupe in the Northeastern States, cultural troupes from the region are likely to reciprocate by visiting the neighbouring country.
The Myanmarese cultural troupe would also be taken for sightseeing at Kangla, State Museum and Ima Keithel tomorrow, the Commissioner added.
