January 11 is Missionary Day for Mizoram. It was on this day in 1894. The first Christian Missionaries, Rev. F.W. Savidge and Rev. JH Lorrain landed in Changsil kai near Sairang to preach the Gospel.
The day is observed all over the State by the Churches. The highlight of the programme includes worship services in the Church today and tonight and encouragement of the people to spread the good news to those who have not heard it.
The Missionary Day is also observed in the District Hqrs. and villages in the same manner with befitting programmes. Many Churches celebrated the day with community feast.
