Aizawl, October 19 2011: The 4th Mizo Infiamna Kutpui (A Mizo Traditional Sport Festival) jointly organised by North East Zone Cultural Centre, Art & Culture Department, Mizoram and Sub-Headquarter Young Mizo Association (YMA), Serchhip has kick-started today at Serchhip, about 112 kms away from Aizawl.
Zolawma District Education Officer, Serchhip made his presence felt at the festival as a Chief Guest.
Zaliana, Senior Research Officer, Tribal Research Institute, Art & Culture Department addressed the inaugural function and he said organising the Zo-sport belongs to Mizos is indeed important even when the modern technology erases the culture and society.
He went on to add that with the fast pace development in every corner it is very necessary to preserve and protect one's culture and tradition which were practise in the ancient.
It is every Mizo duty to keep alive this valuable tradition.
The kut had showcased numbers of traditional sports which were forgotten by youths in the present day.
The Mizoram Art & Culture department will play an active part in this regard by organising such festival in the future, said the department's minister PC Zoramsangliana while talking to this correspondent today.
Mentionably, the Mizo Infiamna Kutpui was firstly organised at Sialhawk Village in 2008, and the 2nd was held at Chaltlang, Aizawl and the 3rd was organised at Kolasib successfully he said.
Further, the Chief Guest Zolawma, DEO also highlighted the importance of caring the culture and society parallel to the new age development.
The two-days Mizo Infiamna kûtpui will be concluded on Oct 20 .
