Aizawl, April 12 (NNN): Mizoram Industries minister S Hiato had dwelt at length on the various bamboo variety found in Mizoram and how they are used by the Mizos, at the IX World Bamboo Congress held at Antwerp, Belgium on April 10.Various researchers from different universities across the world presented Bamboo Research paper during the Bamboo Congress. Besides research scholars, numbers of high officials from different countries had made their presence felt.
The Mizo minister was accompanied by Industries Department Joint Director, R.Lalrodingi and Lalhmachhuana, Asst. Project Manager, Bamboo Development Agency and will be back to Mizoram on April 14 next. The Mizoram minister was also the guest of honour during the Investment Meet for the South East Asian countries being held at the same place while Meghalaya chief minister Dr. Mukul Sangma was the chief guest. The theme of the Meet was ‘Where Bamboo Grows’.
S Hiato told the delegates and representatives from different countries on the species of bamboo in Mizoram and how it is being used for various purposes. He also asked them to visit Mizoram and find out how business relation can be made with his state on bamboo products.
